Because the idea of being a trusted, expert guide and getting people there safely is what you do. For HR Managers, you do all that, but most of it they dont see and they dont have to worry about it, because you take care of it all for them. My experience as an HR manager, is that I often had huge pressure to make an appointment happen, and often I:
- Didnt know where to start
- Didnt know what to do
- Was terrified of getting things wrong
- Totally didnt have the attention to detail or the headspace to get it spot on
And your ability to go “Right, we’ve got this. We’ll take care of it” is the reason why I always want to work with you (and refer you to others). Cos I believe you when you say it, and you always deliver!
I always knew you had my back, and you always knew what to do about it. And you really brought some humanity to what can be a really inhuman, bureaucratic process. I trusted you completely that you would get me (and the employee) to our destination, as quickly, efficiently and with the least stress possible.
You looked after all the details that I (and they) didnt have the headspace for and that would have been potential trip hazards- it’s serious customer service and you bring real humanity to it. I have always felt like you cared and it was a human-centred, thoughtful process, and that you understood cultural and business landscapes too. With you and your team, we’re all in it together, all invested in making it happen.
So my take is that your why is all around bringing people and organisations together, navigating bureaucracy, leveraging your expertise to solve problems, keep people moving forward and connected.
And you’re really really good value – you value your expertise and dont undersell yourself, but it’s about relationships first, money second. (And you have relationships at every corner of your jobyou’re one of the best networked people I know, and you’re the same with everyone, which is rare)
There is something really unique about the flavour of your business and why you do it – and why you’re successful at it. There’s a spirit of generosity and integrity – HR managers are often stressed off their heads, so transactional stuff is even more stressful. You provide moral AND procedural support, and HR managers like dealing with you, because you’re so happy and friendly and positive- you bring yourself to your role.
So that’s where I think I came up with the trusted guide thing. I think people underestimate the human stresses involved in these processes and you never do. You care about people, and solving their problems, either as managers or employees. Work is a huge part of our lives, and getting this stuff right can be life, career, business changing. And I see the satisfaction you get from lining everything up and making it happen!
